18 Years Of LOF News – Merry Christmas

I know there is very ‘slow’ news here these days, however I must stress my passion for LOF, its history, personnel and management has inspired many of us to greater things in life.

Another year passes by and it is unfortunate that most posts these days are about another ‘old salt’ passing on – there still remain a few hundred of us LOFer’s around – many now in their late 80’s and some still doing remarkably well with moderate medicines?

Connie and I still travel a great deal both in the UK and overseas with the ‘odd’ cruise now and then – much different a life than we experienced both job wise and socially.
Even the odd 3 or 4 ex LOF personnel who are still at sea today can not recognise todays Merchant Navy with the prime days of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

I’d like to thank those generously donate towards both running costs of this website and the splendid Anchor Wreaths which ‘we’ try and give as a send off for our departed ship-mates –

As you maybe aware – when-ever we may be passing by your town or village you may well get a phone call from me and an invite to meet up and as they say ‘swing the lamp’ and enjoy a few of my ‘salty stories’ – the same goes for anyone passing by ‘The Fens’ near Peterborough – contact me first make sure we are in.
So from a very nice hotel in Plays de Taurito on Grand Canary for Christmas –
Connie & I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, A Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year.
