2007 LOF Reunion Charity Raffle. Ladies and Gentlemen, at the 2004 LOF Reunion we held a charity raffle, the generous support in providing prizes was overwhelming, included were two fantastic framed paintings of LOF Ships by our own Andy Sinclair, which were considered some of the best by an amateur painter. Also were two magnums of Moët & Chandon donated by Miles Kulukundis, these were just a few of the many prizes.
We raised just under £1,000 UK Pounds during the evening, and this sum was rounded  up to the £1,000 by the left over proceeds of attendance fees. Some weeks later we presented a cheque for £500 each to the 'Mersey Mission to Seamen', and the 'King George Fund for Sailors'. I am proposing that we should try and do the same at this forthcoming Reunion, and am therefore asking everyone if they have any LOF Memorabilia they wish to donate for the Raffle to get in touch with me.
I will try to get my usual 'sponsors' to generously donate what they can.
Hopefully we will be able to equal the 2004 amount and I am open to suggestions as to where the proceeds of the raffle should be made at the end of the Reunion.

Basil (B.M.) Mavroleon. (Deceased Family Founder)
I am trying to locate living children or grand children of Basil (B.M.) Mavroleon, who started R & K Shipping in London around 1938. R & K's  were Greek registered but nevertheless they placed them at the disposal of the Allies. In 1940 Manuel, his brothers George, Nicholas and Michael transferred their activities to New York. John Kulukundis and Basil Mavroleon stayed behind in the UK to run their ships under the control of the Ministry of War Transport.
I am selling a very important Bentley that was original purchased by B.M. Mavroleon in 1940. The car totally original with only 34,000 from new. Mavroleon sold the car in 1945 to US ambassador A.J. Drexel Biddle Jr. Maybe one his relatives would love to own this great car. Any suggestions? Respectfully. Charles Crail

Malcolm Cuthbert. (See below) Just thought I'd let you know I'm on the mend now, just got to put this unfortunate accident in the past and get on with my life, what's happened has happened and there's nothing I can do about it, all I can say is thank goodness for crash helmets it's the best £95 I'll ever spend. Looks as if I'm just going to be another statistic on the police records as all they have got on the car that hit me is the it was small and silvery coloured with no further witnesses coming forward after 3 advertisements in the local papers, well that's life for you!! Looks like it's messed up my cycling for this year, and all this lovely weather I'm missing has really pissed me off, just peddling my bike on the machine in the back garden at the moment getting nowhere, well at least it will keep my legs in trim and the old heart and lungs going ready to get back on the roads next spring.
Seems like the surgeons have done a good job bolting the bit of a jigsaw back that my right shoulder was in, say I'll probably only regain about 70% use of it but I'm sure I can manage a bit more than that if I put my mind to it, and my right ear seems to have glued back on pretty straight so it hasn't spoilt my good looks!! Ribs still a bit sore so sleeping not so good but that's just going to take time and things are getting better that each day goes by. Thanks to all who sent the kind cards (See photos: Front, Back) (M.C.)
